Biographical Note

Ewald Schmidt was born in Breslau, the son of the pharmacist Alfred Schmidt. Ewald served in the German army in the Baltics and in Belarus in World War One. He emigrated to Palestine in 1933, where he set up a pharmacy. In 1935, the Consul General at the German consulate in Jerusalem awarded a medal to “the pharmacist Ewald Schmidt in Haifa” for his active service in World War 1914/1918.
