Claire Sinnreich was a writer who lived in Bukovina (today shared by Romania and the Ukraine) from 1902-1980. There are indications in the collection that she was involved with Lothar Bickel's circle of admirers of the philosopher Constantin Brunner, and may have studied under Brunner himself.
