The Jecomen Club, Lynn, Massachusetts1

The Jecomen Club, an abbreviation for Jewish college men, was a fraternal organization established in 1925 and based in Lynn, Massachusetts. Men over the age of twenty-one with a college degree were eligible to apply for membership. In the club’s early years, meetings were often held at the Lynn Y.M.H.A. The group hosted both social and philanthropic events, which included an annual theatrical production to raise money for the Jecomen scholarship fund. The club also hosted tennis matches and dances, and many members participated in a club orchestra. One of the most prominent presidents of the organization was attorney and teacher Israel Bloch, who was integral in the club’s founding, and later, its reorganization in 1937.
