Abstract: The Lexington Jewish Leisure Group was formed in 1972 by members of Lexington’s Temple Emunah and Temple Isaiah to serve as a social group for older and retired Jewish people. After the Group affiliated with the Golden Age Council, a service of the Associated Jewish Community Centers, in 1972, it would also hold meetings at Belmont’s Temple Beth-El. The Leisure Group organized outings and activities for the Jewish senior citizens of the area.

Historical Note

The Lexington Jewish Leisure Group was formed in 1972 by members of Lexington's Temple Emunah and Temple Isaiah to serve as a social group for older and retired Jewish people. After the Group affiliated with the Golden Age Council, a service of the Associated Jewish Community Centers, in 1972, it would also hold meetings at Belmont's Temple Beth-El. The Leisure Group organized outings and activities for the Jewish senior citizens of the area.

This series contains correspondence, bulletins, memoranda, and news releases from the Lexington Jewish Leisure Group. This series contains correspondence, financial records, meeting minutes, membership lists, prayers and a resource kit containing information on programs, speakers, films, publicity, entertainment and songs from the Lexington Jewish Leisure Group. Of particular interest are the organization's meeting minutes, containing information about fundraising, other affiliated organizations such as the Golden Age Council, community life and the group's planned trips to Israel.
